Culture is key to establishing social justice: Leader

TEHRAN -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said here on Saturday that the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council should promote social justice and proper individual and social behavior in society.

In a meeting with the members of the Supreme Cultural Revolution Council, Ayatollah Khamenei said that Iran’s main objective is to create a society with justice-seeking, hopeful, self-confident, and active individuals.
“And culture is the key to achieve this goal,” he observed.
He expressed appreciation for the endeavors of the council’s chairman and secretary, and especially their efforts to fulfill their heavy and sensitive responsibilities.
Culture is highly influential in the various spheres of society, the Supreme Leader said, adding, “The public culture has a profound influence on individual and social behavior as well as on the government’s decisions.”
The council should assess the current cultural situation of Iranian society, and resolve its problems and smooth out its imperfections, Ayatollah Khamenei noted.
He stated that the council has the authority to make decisions and implement them. “This unique body can and should direct society to the desired objectives.”
Ayatollah Khamenei said the council has a very important and sensitive role, and all organizations should implement its decisions.
